New update: 3.4.13 -
30/4/2009
Some minor updates that might be very useful for some. It was not possible to use the bucket fill with walltiles... Well now it is. This allows you to draw entire bases using a single tile, then with one single click, redraw it entirely with the proper tiles for each wall.
Here's a small tutorial by Nolan123 to learn how walltiles work.
The tile preview with walltiles was also screwed up sometimes. This should all be fixed.

New update: 3.4.11 -
20/12/2008
The previous versions had problems with video memory usage. People with low-end video cards could easily get white screens or 'autoredraw 480' errors. Major improvements have been made in memory usage, especially for ASSS regions and LVZ images. There was a lot of useless graphic data loaded in memory.
Also, you might have noticed that the Download link now brings you to the download manager on SSForum.net. This allows us to know how many times it has been downloaded and have everyone download it at the same place.

3.4 is done -
18/11/2008
It took 8 beta releases to clean up all the known bugs, but it's ready now. This new version offers a much more performant rendering system, while also providing smoother display. For example, you can now scroll pixel by pixel with the hand tool, instead of being limited to a tile by tile scrolling. This makes the whole experience much smoother.
Some features for the LVZ objects will be added soon, like undo/redo and align functions. Also, some more performance upgrades are planned for LVZ objects. You might find DCME a bit slow when handling maps with tens of thousands of map objects, but these planned upgrades should fix that.

New beta release available 3.4.0 -
29/09/2008
I'm almost done with all these improvements in DCME. A few things are still left to do, which is why this release is not yet available through auto-update.
Basically, the whole process of drawing stuff on the screen is about
2 to 4 times faster. Several details are now properly rendered as well. For example, transparent fly-under tiles are now rendered with transparency, and each LVZ image is on its respective layer.
Several other things have been fixed or improved:
- Ellipses and special shapes are not slow to draw anymore, and are more accurate
- All known memory leaks are fixed
- Walltiles now have their own tab in the tileset
- ASSS regions are now handled MUCH faster
There are a few minor known glitches in this release, mainly graphic-related, but nothing critical. You should
try it out.
Please report any anomaly on
our forum.

Revamping the whole thing -
04/09/2008
I'm currently in the process of recoding the whole display code. It may take a while before DCME is usable again, because I had to destroy a large chunk of code to redo it.
The final result will be a more flexible system that will allow us to draw LVZ objects on any layer, and have each type of item drawn separatly, which will make redrawing much quicker.

3.3.4 -
29/08/2008
DCME v3.3.4 was just released. A major memory leak was fixed.
Also, LVZ images are now displayed with correct transparency. Only thing still to fix is the LVZ images that should appear under the tiles.

DCME v3.2 is now available from the downloads page!
A whole bunch of bugs were fixed since the last released version. Major memory leaks and bottlenecks were fixed, no more crash warnings no Vista, radar works with 16bits color mode... and tons of other improvements.
